Son of God? Son of Man? Messiah? Does it matter?
"But who do you say that I am?" That question asked of Peter by Jesus has engendered more responses down through history than any other question asked by man. The reason is that there has been more written about Jesus Christ than any other human being who has ever lived. Yet, while some have answered the question—"You are the Christ, the Son of the living God"—others have remained skeptical, if not militant and combative, over the identity of Jesus. But why? What is it about the person of Jesus that has drawn so much interest, as well as so much controversy. Just who was Jesus? Was he God? Was he merely a man? Did Jesus even exist? These and other questions are answered below.
